Mark organizes the annual Special Olympics Tennis Fun Day, where Special Athletes, volunteers and professionals come together for a day of clinics, fun and an awards luncheon.
Mark raised over $175,000 for the Special Olympics through his involvement. In the last 20 years over 1100 special athletes, 100+ teaching pros and more than 2200 volunteers participated in this event.

The 10th annual Special Olympics Tennis Fun Day was held held on January 25, 2020 at the Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, AZ and had over 190+ special athletes and volunteers participating. We raised over $23,000 in 2020 alone!

Keeping the ball rolling.

Mark Pachtner has been involved with Special Olympics since 1998. Over the past decade, this 2002 Georgia Pro of the Year has organized the annual Fun Day at clubs in several states, including Minnesota, Georgia, California and Florida.

"Once I took my first tennis director's job, I made it my goal to establish the Fun Day at every club where I work," said Pachtner. "I really enjoy working with these athletes and seeing them smile and hugging everyone. It makes me happy and fulfilled."

Many times, Special Olympics athletes send touching thank-you cards and letters. "It's amazing; what they put in there tells you how much it means to them," Pachtner said. "To us it might be so little, but to them it's such an impact."
